About Compress Images
Smaller images load faster and fit within upload limits. JPEG and WEBP are compressed with a quality slider: lower values give smaller files with more visible artefacts. PNG can be optimised losslessly, which keeps every pixel, or reduced to a limited colour palette for much smaller files. For each image you see the original size, the new size, and the percentage saved, with a preview to check quality. If compression would make a file larger, the original is kept. Everything runs in your browser; your images are not uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my PNG barely smaller?
Lossless optimisation cannot remove much from PNGs that are already efficient. Try the lossy colour-reduction option for a bigger saving.
What quality should I choose for photos?
70–80 usually gives a large saving with little visible difference. Use the preview to check.
What if the compressed file is bigger?
The original is kept and marked as such, so you never download a larger file by mistake.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser on your device.
