Audio format

Quality (bitrate)

Compressed format: higher bitrates sound better and make larger files. 192 kbps suits most speech and music.

Audio track

Many videos have only one audio track. After processing you will see every track found in the file and can extract another one.

This tool uploads your file to our server over HTTPS. It is processed in an isolated temporary folder and deleted after download or automatically within about 15 minutes.

How to use Extract Audio from Video

  1. 1

Upload a video (MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, WEBM or AVI).

  2. 2

Choose the audio format and quality, or Original to copy the track without re-encoding.

  3. 3

Extract and download. If the video has several audio tracks, pick another one from the list or get all of them as a ZIP.

About Extract Audio from Video

The extraction runs on our server with FFmpeg. The video is checked first: you see its duration and every audio track it contains (codec, language, channels, length), and a clear message if it has no sound at all. Re-encoding uses the bitrate you choose; Original copies the audio stream unchanged into a container that fits its codec, so there is no quality loss, and AC-3 or DTS tracks go into MKA. MP3 holds only stereo, so surround tracks are mixed down for MP3 (choose M4A or FLAC to keep every channel). Videos up to one hour are accepted. Your files are deleted after the result reaches your browser, or automatically within about 15 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I choose?

MP3 or M4A for listening on any device, FLAC or WAV for editing, and Original when you want the exact audio from the video with no quality loss.

Does a higher bitrate improve the sound?

Only up to the quality already in the video. Re-encoding cannot add detail that was lost when the video was made; Original avoids any further loss.

My video has several languages. Can I get them all?

Yes. After the first extraction every audio track is listed with its language; extract another one, or choose All tracks to receive each as a separate file in a ZIP.

Why did I get an MKA file?

Some codecs, such as AC-3 or DTS, have no widely used audio-only container. With Original they are copied into MKA, which plays in VLC or mpv. Choose MP3 or M4A for wider compatibility.
