About HEIC to JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, a format many computers and websites still cannot open. When your browser can decode HEIC itself (Safari can, for example), the conversion happens entirely on your device. When it cannot, the tool asks whether you want to use our server instead and uploads nothing unless you agree. Server conversions are processed in an isolated temporary folder and deleted after download or within about 15 minutes. Photos are rotated correctly, and the JPG output contains no metadata such as location or camera details.

Frequently asked questions

Will my photos be uploaded?

Only if your browser cannot decode HEIC and you explicitly choose server conversion. Otherwise everything stays on your device.

Is location data kept?

No. The JPG files are written without metadata, so GPS location and camera details are removed.

Why might my photos have appeared sideways elsewhere?

HEIC stores rotation separately. This tool applies it, so the JPG is shown the right way up.

Are Live Photos or bursts supported?

Only the main still image of each file is converted.
