About Compress PDF

Compression needs our server, so your PDF is uploaded over HTTPS, processed in an isolated temporary folder, and deleted after you download the result, or automatically after about 15 minutes. Low compression only restructures the file without changing any content. Medium and high re-encode large images as JPEG and reduce their resolution, which shrinks scanned and photo-heavy documents the most. Text-only or already optimised PDFs often cannot get much smaller; in that case you get the original back with a clear message. Password-protected PDFs are not supported.

Frequently asked questions

Which level should I choose?

Start with medium. Use low if the document must stay visually identical, and high if size matters more than image sharpness.

Why did my file barely get smaller?

Files that are mostly text or were already optimised have little to remove. If no useful reduction is possible, we return the original and tell you.

What happens to my file on the server?

It is processed in a temporary job folder and deleted after download, or automatically after about 15 minutes if it is not downloaded.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes, a safety limit applies to uploads (200 MB per file by default) to keep the service available for everyone.
