About Word to PDF
Word documents are converted on our server with LibreOffice running in headless mode. Your file is uploaded over HTTPS, processed in an isolated temporary folder, and deleted after you download the PDF, or automatically after about 15 minutes. Macros are never executed, and macro-enabled files are rejected. Arabic and other scripts are supported. The layout is reproduced as closely as possible, but it can differ slightly from Microsoft Word, especially when the document uses fonts the server does not have. In that case the tool lists the fonts that may have been substituted.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my PDF look slightly different from Word?
The conversion uses LibreOffice, not Microsoft Word. Missing fonts are replaced with similar ones, which can shift line breaks. The tool warns you when this may happen.
Are macros in my document run?
No. Macro execution is disabled, and files containing macros are rejected.
Is the old .doc format supported?
Yes, DOC files are accepted, although very old or unusual documents may convert less accurately than DOCX.
How long is my file kept?
It is deleted after you download the result, or automatically after about 15 minutes if you do not.
