About Text to PDF

Plain text files are easy to write but awkward to share or print. This tool lays your text out on A4, Letter, or Legal pages with a sans-serif, serif, or monospaced font. Arabic letters are joined in their correct contextual forms and Arabic paragraphs are aligned right to left; with automatic direction, each paragraph follows its first strong character. The PDF is generated on our server: your text is uploaded over HTTPS, processed in an isolated temporary folder, and deleted after download or automatically after about 15 minutes. Formatting such as bold or headings is not interpreted.

Frequently asked questions

Why use a server for this?

Correct Arabic letter shaping needs a text-shaping engine and suitable fonts that are not available in every browser, so the PDF is built on our server.

What does “automatic direction” do?

Each paragraph is laid out right to left if it starts with Arabic or Hebrew letters, and left to right otherwise.

Which text encoding is required?

UTF-8. Files saved in other encodings are rejected so that characters are not displayed incorrectly.

Is Markdown or rich formatting supported?

No. The text is placed as written; symbols like ** or # are shown literally.
