About Remove Background
This tool uses U²-Net, an open-source AI model for salient object segmentation, running on our server's processor. It predicts which pixels belong to the main subject, such as a person, an animal or a product, and makes the rest transparent, with soft edges where the model is unsure. It works best when the subject is clearly separated from the background. Fine details such as hair, transparent objects and busy scenes can be imperfect, so check the result. Images up to 50 megapixels are supported. Your image is deleted from the server once the result reaches your browser, or automatically within about 15 minutes.

What kinds of photos work best?
Photos with one clear subject (a person, product or animal) that stands out from the background.
Why are some edges rough?
Fine hair, glass and similar colours between subject and background are hard to separate. The model's soft edges are kept, but results vary.
Is my photo stored?
No. It is processed in a temporary job and deleted as soon as the result reaches your browser, or within about 15 minutes.
