About Remove Metadata

Photos often carry hidden details: the GPS position where they were taken, the date and time, and the phone or camera model. This tool removes EXIF, XMP, and IPTC metadata from JPEG, PNG, and WEBP files without re-encoding the pixels, so the picture is unchanged. The colour profile is kept so colours look the same, and a minimal orientation tag is kept so photos are not shown rotated. After cleaning, each file is checked again to confirm the targeted metadata is gone. Everything runs in your browser. HEIC files are not supported; convert them to JPG first.

Frequently asked questions

Will image quality change?

No. Only metadata blocks are removed; the image data is copied unchanged.

Why is an orientation tag kept?

Many phones store photos sideways and rely on this tag. Keeping only the orientation value prevents your photo from appearing rotated and reveals nothing personal.

How do I know it worked?

The cleaned file is parsed again and the tool shows that no EXIF, GPS, XMP, or IPTC data remains.

Can I clean HEIC photos?

Not directly. Convert them with the HEIC to JPG tool, which writes JPGs without metadata.
