Official Hijri dates can differ by a day or two between countries. Many announce the start of Ramadan, Shawwal and Dhu al-Hijjah only after the new crescent has been sighted, while this tool uses a calculated calendar. For religious occasions, follow the announcement of your local authority.

About Hijri–Gregorian Date Converter
There is more than one Hijri calendar, so this converter always tells you which one it used. Umm al-Qura is the official calendar of Saudi Arabia and follows a published table of month lengths; it is available for 1300–1600 AH (November 1882 to November 2174), the years that table covers, and dates outside it are refused rather than guessed. The tabular Islamic calendar is purely arithmetic: months alternate between 30 and 29 days and 11 years in every 30 have a leap day. Conversion runs in your browser using its built-in calendar engine, and Hijri to Gregorian is solved exactly, so a day that does not exist, such as the 30th of a 29-day month, is reported instead of silently moved. Official dates for Ramadan, Eid and other occasions may still differ by a day or two between countries that rely on moon sighting.
Frequently asked questions
Which calculation system should I choose?
Umm al-Qura for official dates in Saudi Arabia and for most everyday use. The tabular calendar is a fixed arithmetic rule used by some software and for historical estimates.
Why does my country's Ramadan or Eid date differ from the result?
Many countries start the month after the new crescent is sighted, which can shift the date by a day or two from any calculated calendar. Follow your local announcement for religious occasions.
Why can't I convert dates before 1882 with Umm al-Qura?
The Umm al-Qura table only exists for 1300–1600 AH. Outside that range there is no official data, so the tool refuses rather than invent a date. Use the tabular calendar for estimates.
Why is day 30 sometimes rejected?
Hijri months have 29 or 30 days, and which months are long differs between systems and years. If the month you chose has 29 days, the tool tells you instead of returning a wrong date.
